Indications

Zarontin is an anti-epileptic medication used to treat absence seizures in children and adults.

Ethosuximide is a succinimide anticonvulsant that suppresses paroxysmal cycle and wave activity that is associated with absence seizures that often cause you to lose consciousness. The drug also affects your motor cortex and central nervous system to reduce the frequency of your seizures. Thanks to these suppressive actions, Zarontin helps minimize, treat, and prevent absence seizures.

The dose of Zarontin that is prescribed will vary depending on the individual being treated. Follow all your healthcare provider’s instructions and read packaging labels carefully for the best therapeutic response during treatment. Do not use more or less of this medication than prescribed without speaking with your healthcare provider.

  • Swallow capsule whole
  • Take once or twice daily at the same times each day
