Indications

Akynzeo is a prescription medicine used to prevent nausea (feeling sick) and vomiting in adults with cancer who are receiving chemotherapy (medicines to treat cancer).

Akynzeo is a combination of two medications: netupitant and palonosetron. Netupitant works by blocking the action of a substance in the brain called substance P, while palonosetron works by blocking the action of a different substance called serotonin. Together they work to reduce the likelihood of chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV).

Use and Dosage

The dosage is dependent on the age, weight, and health of the individual. Akynzeo is available in both capsule and injection forms.

For adults, the recommended dosage is one capsule taken orally, 60 minutes before the start of chemotherapy. It can be taken with or without food. For individuals with moderate to severe liver disease, a lower dosage may be recommended.

Follow the instructions of a healthcare provider when taking Akynzeo or any prescription medication.
