Indications
Promacta is a platelet medication used to reduce the risk of bleeding in those with chronic immune thrombocytopenia and severe aplastic anemia by stimulating and increasing platelet counts.
Eltrombopag is a thrombopoietin (TBO) receptor agonist that stimulates megakaryocytes that lead to an increase in platelet production. This increase supports proper blood flow and allows Promacta to reduce the risk of bleeding in specific at-risk populations.
This medication has been found to be effective at reducing the risk of bleeding thanks to Promacta’s agonizing activity and stimulation of hematopoietic stem cells. By stimulating these cells, Promacta supports platelet production.
