  • If taking to reduce a fever, contact your healthcare provider if your fever worsens or lasts more than 3 days

  • Patients should take the lowest dose necessary for the shortest amount of time needed
  • Store at room temperature away from children and pets

  • Skin redness, blisters
  • Blood in your vomit, bloody or black stools
  • Jaundice

Allergic Reactions

Do not take Advil 12 hour if you are allergic to ibuprofen, acetylsalicylic acid, other salicylates, or any other NSAIDs. Stop taking this medication and call your healthcare provider right away if you notice any of the following signs of an allergic reaction:

  • Hives
  • Itching
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Swelling face, lips, tongue, or throat

Cautions

  • Do not take Advil 12 hour if you have any of the following conditions:
    • Active or recurrent stomach ulcers or bleeding
    • Active inflammatory bowel disease
    • If you are using other NSAIDs including other medicines containing ibuprofen
    • Swelling of the inside of your nose
    • If you are dehydrated because of vomiting, diarrhea, or lack of water
    • Severe high blood pressure
    • Severe coronary artery disease
    • Serious liver or kidney disease
    • Lupus
  • Do not take Advil 12 hour right before or after having heart surgery.
  • To ensure your safety when taking Advil 12 hour, tell your healthcare provider if you have ever had any of the following:
    • Heart failure
    • High blood pressure
    • Irritation of your gastrointestinal tract including history of peptic ulcer
    • Stomach ulcers or bleeding problems
    • Kidney problems
  • Avoid drinking large amounts of alcohol while taking Advil 12 hour because it can increase your risk of developing gastrointestinal problems including bleeding.
  • Tell your healthcare provider if you are pregnant or breastfeeding before using Advil 12 hour. The medication may affect you or your child when used during these times.
  • Some drugs may interact with Advil 12 hour and cause adverse effects. Tell your healthcare provider about all the medicines that you take, including over the counter medications, but especially any of the following:
    • Acetylsalicylic acid
    • Any other NSAIDs
    • Acetaminophen
    • Digoxin
    • Insulin and oral diabetes medications
    • Blood thinner medication
    • Blood pressure medicine
    • Lithium
    • Diuretics
    • antibiotics
    • Steroid medicines
    • Anti-inflammatory medications
  • Advil 12 hour is not approved for use in those under the age of 18.
