Betagan is a glaucoma medicine used to treat open-angle glaucoma and other conditions that cause high pressure inside the eye.

Levobunolol is a beta blocker that reduces the amount of fluid that is produced in your eye chamber. When applied topically to your affected eyes, Betagan lowers raised eye pressure. By helping to treat glaucoma and other eye conditions with high eye pressure, Betagan also reduces your risk of blindness.

Dosage and Administration

The dose of Betagan that is prescribed will vary depending on the individual and eye condition being treated. Follow all your healthcare provider’s directions and read packaging instructions carefully to ensure the best results from treatment. Do not use more than prescribed more often than recommended.

  • Wash hands before and after use
  • Most adults instill one drop of Betagan into the affected eye twice a day
  • Use Betagan eye drops at the same times each day
  • To apply, tilt back your head and hold the dropper above your affected eye
  • Gently pull down your lower lid to create a pocket and squeeze a drop into the pouch
  • Close your eye for 2 minutes without blinking or rubbing and gently place a finger to the inside corner of your eye
  • Wait at least 5 minutes before using any other eye drop products prescribed by your healthcare provider
  • If you wear soft contact lenses, remove them before administering Betagan
