Before starting this medication, a health care professional will test the PH level of your urine to see if it’s acidic enough, or you may need to increase the level. If necessary, your doctor may recommend you to take vitamin c, for it can help your urine be more acidic; cranberry juice may also help. You may be also be advised to limit foods that make your urine less acidic such as fruits, vegetables, nuts, and legumes. Alkalinizing medicines such as antacids and sodium bicarbonate may also be recommended to be avoided to help attain greater acidity of urine.
