Indications

Prevalite is cholesterol medication used to lower high cholesterol levels. The medication may also be used to treat itching caused when the bile ducts in your gallbladder are blocked.

Cholestyramine is a cationic exchange resin polymer that increases the conversion of cholesterol into bile acids. This action allows Prevalite to lower bad cholesterol levels and promotes the function of cholesterol receptors throughout your body but especially in your liver. Cholestyramine may also promote proper glucose metabolism in those with diabetes.

This bile acid medication is an effective treatment for high cholesterol. Prevalite is generally well-tolerated and can help control cholesterol levels by increasing bile acid excretion and absorption.
