Uroxatral is a urinary medication used to improve urination in men with an enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia).

Alfuzosin Hydrochloride is an alpha-adrenergic receptor antagonist that relaxes the smooth muscle in your bladder and prostate. These actions allow Uroxatral to improve the flow of your urine and reduce symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).

Dosage and Administration

The dose of Uroxatral will vary depending on the individual being treated. Follow your healthcare provider’s instructions and read packaging labels carefully to ensure the best results during treatment. Do not change your dose on your own.

This medication may affect your pupils during cataract surgery. Tell your surgeon that you take Uroxatral before receiving your surgery.

  • Antifungal medicine
  • Heart medication

  • Nitrate medications such as nitroglycerin

To ensure your safety when taking Uroxatral, tell your healthcare provider if you have ever had any of the following:

  • Low blood pressure, especially if caused from medications
  • Kidney disease
  • Prostate cancer
  • Long QT syndrome

Uroxatral is designed to improve the flow of urine in men with BPH and should not be taken by women.
