Indications

Anaprox DS is an anti-inflammatory pain medication used to treat pain or inflammation caused by arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, tendinitis, gout, menstrual cramps and other conditions.

Naproxen is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that blocks chemicals in your body that lead to inflammation. This action allows Anaprox DS to relieve pain and swelling caused by conditions related to inflammation like arthritis, gout, and menstrual cramps.

Dosage and Administration

The dose of Anaprox DS that is prescribed will vary depending on the individual and inflammatory condition being treated. Follow all your healthcare provider’s instructions and read packaging labels carefully to ensure the best therapeutic response from treatment with this NSAID. Do not use a higher or lower dose than prescribed for longer than recommended.

  • Swallow tablets whole
  • Can be taken with or without food
  • If stomach upset occurs, take your doses with food or milk
  • Use the lowest effective dose for treatment
  • Store at room temperature away from children and pets

To treat arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis:

  • Most adults take one 550mg tablet with a half tablet (275mg) twice daily
  • Doses can adjust for long-term treatment

  • Adults should not take more than 1500mg a day for no more than 6 months
  • The morning and evening doses can be uneven

To treat juvenile arthritis:

Children should take 10mg/kg a day taken in 2 divided doses

To treat pain including acute tendonitis and bursitis:

  • Adults should start by taking 550mg followed by 550mg every 12 hours or 275mg every 6 to 8 hours as needed to relieve pain
  • Patients should not take more than a total of 1375mg a day for initial treatment
  • After starting treatment, total daily doses should not exceed 1100mg
  • Use at the first sign of pain

To treat acute gout:

  • Patients should start by taking 825mg followed by 275mg every 8 hours
