Asacol HD is a prescription drug used to treat the symptoms of Ulcerative Colitis. Asacol HD can be used alone or in conjunction with other medications.  

 It reduces the symptoms of ulcerative colitis, such as diarrhea, rectal bleeding, and stomach discomfort. Mesalamine is a kind of medication known as amino-salicylate. It works by reducing inflammation in the intestines.  

It goes by the scientific name, Mesalamine.   

Asacol HD Dosage  

For patients with moderately active ulcerative colitis, the recommended dose is 1600 mg (two Asacol HD 800 mg tablets) three times a day for six weeks (total daily consumption of 4.8 grams).
