Glucophage XR Directions

Always read the Glucophage XR information leaflet before starting to take this medication. Remember that you must not take this drug or any oral drug without fully understanding all its prescribing information. For any queries, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Take this oral drug exactly as your doctor instructs you to. This is commonly taken once daily, with the evening meal. Swallow the extended-release tablet whole and drink a lot of fluids right after. Do not split, chew, or dissolve this product to avoid increasing the risk of adverse effects.

For missed Glucophage XR dosage, administer as soon as you can. If the next planned dose is due, skip the missed dose and take the following dose as scheduled. Do not make up for the missed dose and take two doses at once. Further, do not discontinue this drug abruptly as it can worsen your condition.

Glucophage XR Cautions

Avoid taking this antidiabetic drug if you have an allergy to metformin and any of the inactive ingredients that the tablet contains. Always look out for signs of allergic reactions, such as hives/itchiness, skin rashes, swollen lymph nodes, swelling of the face & neck, severe dizziness, and trouble breathing and seek emergency medical attention right away.

Inform the medical practitioner about your past medical history of severe asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, any breathing problems, vitamin B12 deficiency, anemia, liver disease, and kidney disease. You must also discuss all the prescription medications, nonprescription medications, vitamins, supplements, and herbal products you are taking. These products may interact with Metformin XR.

Blurred vision, dizziness, and drowsiness are among the common side effects of metformin xr. Always observe safety caution when doing activities or tasks that would require alertness, particularly driving.
